In turbocharged engines, the downpipe is installed between the turbocharger and the exhaust system. Original downpipes are usually built in a rather small diameter. The worse the exhaust gas pressure can escape from the charger, the more negative the response of the turbocharger. The exhaust gas temperatures are then often too high, especially in the case of engines with improved performance.
The same applies to the pre-cat installed in newer vehicles, which is located in the downpipe. It also brakes the exhaust gas flow, but the turbocharger has to work against it. This also results in less power, slower response and more heat.
In order to thermally relieve the turbocharger and engine in optimized vehicles, a tuning downpipe should definitely be used.
The boost pressure can be kept much more constant over a much wider band and the extra power is already noticeable in the lower speed range!
This handcrafted downpipe is hand-welded using the high-quality TIG process and only produced from high-quality materials. In addition to the far better thermals, they are designed for every vehicle for maximum performance increase.
The transition to the catalytic converter is realized with a high-quality flexible pipe with an interlock. In the higher-quality interlock variant, the flexible pipe has, in addition to the double wire mesh, a corrugated pipe on the inside that provides enormous, additional reinforcement and improves the exhaust system guidance. Ultimately, better mobility and thus higher absorption of vibrations in the exhaust system offer greater driving comfort and a very long durability of the system.
From the turbo, the downpipe always begins with 89mm pipe routing and after the catalytic converter it continues with 76mm.
